Humanity First Middle East Crisis Appeal – Emergency Aid for Gaza and West Bank

On October 7, 2023, the Middle East faced a humanitarian crisis when Israel suffered a devastating attack resulting in over 1,147 deaths, 5,400 injuries, and 239 hostages being taken. Although many hostages have since been released, 128 innocent individuals remain in captivity, leaving countless families in limbo, desperate for news about their loved ones.

Israel’s response has led to catastrophic consequences in Gaza. The relentless bombardment has displaced approximately 1.93 million innocent Palestinians, constituting 85% of the population. Over 25,500 people have lost their lives, with 8,000 still missing and presumed dead. Furthermore, 67,000 individuals have been injured, and more than 360,000 homes have been destroyed or heavily damaged, leaving thousands homeless.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza goes beyond physical devastation. All schools in the region are out of operation, leaving 625,000 children without education. Additionally, 378 schools have sustained damage. The healthcare system is in shambles, with over 140 facilities destroyed, creating severe shortages of medication and critical clinical supplies.

Food and water shortages, compounded by inadequate sanitation, have led to widespread disease. Over 423,000 cases of infectious diseases such as diarrhea, chickenpox, meningitis, and hepatitis A have been reported. In makeshift refugee camps in Khan Younis and Rafah, flooding has exacerbated these issues, increasing the risk of illness.

In response to this humanitarian catastrophe, Humanity First has mobilized to provide critical aid to those most in need. Working alongside trusted partners on the ground in Gaza and the West Bank, including the United Nations, Red Crescent, and Save The Children, Humanity First has distributed vital supplies, including medication, blankets, warm clothing, food, and water to displaced Palestinian refugees. Humanity First has played a crucial role in delivering life-saving medication to the Gaza Strip, while also sponsoring free medical care for approximately 13,000 patients in 10 shelter locations in Khan Younis. This care includes maternal health services, chronic condition management, and critical care support.

In mid-January 2024, an assessment team from the UK visited affected displaced communities in Rafah to evaluate the conditions on the ground. Humanity First's local volunteers continue to work tirelessly and courageously amid the ongoing bombardment, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.

For over a decade, Humanity First has been supporting the people of Gaza and the West Bank through a variety of long-term projects. These efforts include repairing damaged schools, establishing mobile libraries, creating IT training centers for visually impaired youth, installing water treatment plants, and setting up hydroponic gardens to grow fruit and vegetables. Humanity First has also provided scholarships for students in Gaza, enabling them to continue their education even amid the ongoing conflict.

The scale of the crisis in Gaza is immense, but Humanity First remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering emergency aid and long-term support to the people of Palestine. Our efforts are driven by the belief that every person deserves access to basic human needs, such as food, clean water, and healthcare.

Humanity First urges the global community to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and the West Bank during these incredibly difficult times. Donations are crucial in enabling us to continue our work and expand our relief efforts. Your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of displaced families, offering them hope and dignity amid the devastation.

Please join us in our Middle East Crisis Appeal to provide essential aid to those who need it most. Together, we can help the people of Gaza and the West Bank rebuild their lives and work toward a more hopeful future.
